Barry Callebaut has announced plans to add Fairtrade certified milk and dark chocolate to its Finest Belgian chocolate range.

The company will launch Fairtrade versions of its 811NV (55.3% Cacao Dark), 823NV (35.1% Milk) and 70-30-38NV (70% Cacao Dark).

Callebaut said the new Fairtrade options would require no recipe adjustments and gave the same flavour profiles as their uncertified counterparts.

The company added that confectioners would incur no additional administrative costs and little work with Fairtrade International (FLO) was needed to use its Fairtrade offering. Companies would just need to register with FLO at www.fairtrade.net .

The Fairtrade chocolate will be available as callets in 10 kg bags.
