BBX Capital has purchased Florida-based Anastasia Confections to mark its fifth premium chocolate acquisition since the start of 2014.

The investment firm has added Anastasia Confections to its BBX Sweet Holdings subsidiary that was formed in December 2013. The holding already includes Helen Grace Chocolates​, Hoffman’s Chocolates, Williams & Bennett,.​and Jer’s Chocolates.

Present in national retailers

The latest addition brings a 80,000 square foot production facility in Orlando, Florida.

"The success and recognition of Anastasia Confections products in Florida paved the way to its expansion and branding on a national level,” ​said Jarett Levan, president of BBX Capital.

“Today, several mainstream grocery chains, mass merchandisers, gift shops, theme parks, and other retailers across the US, Canada and the Caribbean carry Anastasia's Coconut Patties and a variety of their other products and product lines."

Key brands

Anastasia began as a tourist gift shop in Pompano Beach, Florida in 1984. It has since grown to sell in third party retailers across the US, Canada, and the Caribbean. The company's key brands are Coconut Patties, Salt Water Taffy, Chocolate Alligators (Choc-O-Gators), Coco Rhumbies, and Citrus Jelly candies.

Mike Constantine, founder and president of Anastasia Confections, said he was excited by the resources BBX could bring.

"What started as a small kitchen operation has now grown into one of Florida's largest and most distinguished chocolate and specialty candy manufacturers, and we are excited to grow the company."

BBX Capital is listed on the New York stock exchange and its primary business is in real estate. The firm posted $44.1m in revenues for the first half they year and $8.4m in net income.
