Private label confectioner European Candy Group has acquired Dutch licorice firm Kraepelien & Holm.

The European Candy Group, owned by Bencis Partners, purchased 100% of the shares of Kraepelien & Holm (K&H) for an undisclosed sum.

The deal includes K&H’s facilities in Drachten and Hoorn.

The European Candy Group said the acquisition would support its private label subsidiary Continental Candy Industries (CCI), also based in the Netherlands.

E. Waijenberg, CEO of The European Candy Group, said: "The acquisition of Kraepelien & Holm is a valuable addition to CCI's existing assortment and offers room for further growth. This transaction fits our strategy to become a leading player in the market of private label sugar confectionery."

The European Candy Group said the acquisition would have no impact on employment of K&H staff.
