Specialty candy producer IT'SUGAR has launched Trump-shaped gummies at its retail stores across the US and via its website.

The gummy pack carries the slogan “Make America Sweet Again” on the front, and it features a cartoon Trump that says “Eat Me,” and “These are going to be yuuge!”

Trump gummies retail for $12.99 per three packs.

First 3D-produced candy

Justin Clinger, director of product design and marketing at IT'SUGAR, said the team has been developing the product for a while, and this is the company’s first confectionery product made with 3D technology.

“Most gummies [made without 3D technology] are flat on the back, so we thought this could be a better way to bring the product to the market,” Clinger said.

Trump gummies are only available in orange flavor, according to IT'SUGAR.

“The country is so divided right now, so we at IT'SUGAR figured out how to bring the country together, and hopefully give everyone a little laugh,” Clinger added. “The gummies are actually made in China. It says on the package and it’s true.”

This is not the first time that IT'SUGAR has used politics for product development inspiration. Right before the US presidential result came out last year, It’ Sugar created Hilary Clinton – and Donald Trump –themed candy corns and pumpkin candies under the range called “one scary election” to capitalize on both the political humor and the Halloween season.

Private equity firm BBX Capital acquired IT'SUGAR for approximately $57m in June 2017, and it represents 93% of the candy retailer’s membership interest.
