Nestlé UK has put together a collection of historical packaging and posters of its Rowntree brand designed to help patients diagnosed with dementia bring back happy memories.

It has created an online history pack in collaboration with the Alzheimers Society that can be printed to create posters, chocolate boxes and tin labels.

The images are taken from Nestlé UK & Ireland Archive facility at its York factory,

“The Nestle UK & Ireland archive has been inundated with requests from careers and reminiscence groups who want historical packaging to help prompt happy memories among patients diagnosed with dementia, or memory problems,” said the company on its website.

“We're proud to be one of the first businesses to produce a pack this kind, and hope that historic images of our famous brands will prompt memories and conversations.”

Nestlé acquired the brand when it purchased Rowntree Mackintosh in 1988 for $4.5bn. The deal included brands such as Aero, Polo, Kit Kat and Smarties.
