Confectionery is big business. Last year, global confection sales reached a record $196 billion. The nine richest names in the business – according to data from Forbes – hold a combined fortune of $60bn. Most have inherited candy businesses from parents but have gone on to accelerate sales and move in to new markets. All but one head companies that have been around for over half a century.
