Nestlé has partnered with Kuehne + Nagel logistics company to store its chocolate, coffee and culinary products over the next five years.

Kuehne + Nagel has opened a purpose-built distribution center in Veghel, the Netherlands, following the announcement and Nestlé - Netherlands will house its own Food Campus at the site.

‘Omni channel approach’

The company will provide all warehousing, transportation and delivery for Nestlé starting in 2018.

The Fast Moving Customer Goods (FMCG) industry is of strategic importance to Kuehne + Nagel. We are very pleased to enter into a long-term partnership with Nestlé – Netherlands,” said Diederick de Vroet, MD, Kuehne + Nagel.

Nestlé - Netherlands wishes to have a single partner for all its distribution channels.

This ‘Omni channel approach’, in which all logistic flows are managed centrally, is gaining importance in the fast changing consumer landscape.”

Kuehne + Nagel already works with Nestlé supplying all its consumer internet orders for Nespresso, NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto and Special-T.

It has also been working with Nestlé International Travel Retail (NITR) for more than 15 years, where it supplies goods to all duty-free destinations globally including airports and cruise ships.

Zero environmental impact

We have proven our ability to reliably and effectively operate all channels from the same logistics concept, and to anticipate changes promptly. We thereby can provide Nestlé Netherlands with the right logistics,” added de Vroet.

Nestlé wants to have a zero environmental operational impact by 2030.

Kuehne + Nagel Netherlands has taken measures to reduce its CO2 footprint, for example, installing solar panels on the roofs of its distribution centers, it is ISO 14001 certified and operates LNG-fuelled trucks.

In addition, several locations are BREEAM certified, which is an official assessment for sustainable real estate. All these measures will be found in the new 50,000 m² distribution center, which will be constructed in three phases.
