The Paxiom Group has launched new candy weighers designed for low capacities that it claims could help small companies take their first steps towards automation.

Its AutoWeigher linear table-top scales can weigh and fill confectionery including jelly beans, gummy bears, wrapped candies and chocolate.

Takes up little floorspace

Kimberly Brown, sales & marketing administrator told ConfectioneryNews.com:  “The AutoWeigher is simple to use, easy to clean and completely affordable for small companies looking to take the first step towards automation.

“The machine is fairly small therefore it does not need a big facility – just a table top. Also the AutoWeigher can easily be integrated with other machines (i.e. baggers).”

The company has added two new models: the AW-1, for 0.5 oz to 2.5 lbs, and the AW-9 for weights of 1 oz to 10 lbs.

Price and speed

Brown said that automatic or a semi-automatic options were available.

“Most companies on the market offer either an automatic solution or a semi-automatic solution, at Paxiom we offer both,” she said.

The AutoWeigher costs between $10,000 and $15,000 depending on the packaging needs and weights of the operators. Both models operate at speeds of 15 cycles per minute.

Operation and features

Candy is fed automatically from the hopper along a vibrating pan into a weigh bucket. Once the target weight is reached, the product is released via a funnel into a bag or container.

Paxiom said that the weigh bucket, hopper and funnel could be removed with tools thus reducing downtime for cleaning.

The weighers include an LED display that reads in either grams or ounces. A foot-pedal can also be included for semi-automatic operations.
