BBX Capital has made California-based firm Helen Grace Chocolates its forth US premium chocolate acquisition in eight months.

The investment firm last year setup subsidiary BBX Sweet Holdings and acquired Hoffman’s Chocolates in December 2013 and Williams & Bennett in January 2014. Earlier this month it added Californian-based Jer’s Chocolates.

Its latest addition, Helen Grace, is headquartered in Lynwood, California and produces premium chocolate bars, candies and truffles.

A BBX company spokesperson told ConfectioneryNews: “The Helen Grace acquisition adds another legendary brand to BBX Sweet Holdings portfolio. It also expands our presence in California, solidifying BBX Sweet Holdings as a coast-to-coast chocolate and candy company.”

Company profile

Helen Grace has three retail stores, and also sells its chocolates to grocery stores and other retailers, through it's wholesale division.

The firm  also has an exclusive relationship with a national fundraising company, Innisbrook, where it sells its chocolates through a national fundraising program.

Helen Grace’s products are produced at a 50,000 sq ft facility in Los Angeles.

“We make close to 75 products in this facility, and expect to continue to add more products and grow the brand in CA, and across the country,” said the BBX spokesperson.

“We continue to look for good acquisitions - our criteria includes legendary brands, exceptional products, and great management.”
