"We feel it is important to show that price needs not to be an issue going forward, as it is our intention to encourage large scale penetration of the sweetener market by Reb A. Due to significant investment in our supply chain, we are in a position to help do that,” said corporate VP Dorn Wenninger.
“The pricing indicated in Shanghai last month at Stevia World currently requires important commitments from our customers in terms of off take, but over time our aim is to ensure the use of Reb A as the sweetener of choice for all manufacturers, irrespective of size and category.”
Speaking from the conference, Wenninger told FoodNavigator.com that steviol glycosides can immediately be seen as a cost effective alternative to sugar.
The sweetener has a place as a high intensity sweetener, for diet or low calorie products – but it can also be used to replace as much as 10 or 20 per cent of sugar in a product.
