Ambassador's reception rumours confirmed: Ferrero plots UK expansion
Family owned Italian chocolate manufacturer Ferrero has revealed to FoodManufacture.co.uk that it is considering investing in UK production sites as it bids to double current UK chocolate sales by 2015.

Responding to a question about whether Ferrero – which produces Ferrero Rocher chocolates, Kinder Eggs and Nutella spreads – had imminent plans to build UK production capacity (following a media report stating this) a spokeswoman said:

“I can confirm that Ferrero UK has strong growth plans and has recently been discussing future production needs with UK Trade and Investment [UKTI].

Having doubled in size since 2005 and with a UK turnover of £200 million, she added that Ferrero wanted to double the current sales in the country by 2015, and was also striving to become the “preferred supplier” of premium chocolate to retail customers.

“We don’t have any further information at this stage but we will make an announcement when further developments can be announced,” she said.
