Sports star's breakfast cereal had heart
While many celebrities launch or endorse products for charity, Flutie Flakes are closer to the heart than others. In 1998, Doug Flutie—then quarterback for the Buffalo Bills football team—launched the cereal to raise funds for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation, created in honor of his autistic son. While the flakes’ popularity faded with Flutie’s sports career, it made a brief comeback in 2008 with special anniversary packaging.
