Atkins candies take aim at US diet market

The company will sell Atkins Candies chocolate-covered peanuts and candy-coated chocolate in portion-sized packaging from October this year in the US.
Scott Parker, chief marketing officer of Atkins Nutritionals, said: “We developed the new line of Atkins Candies in response to consumer demand for a low-carb chocolate snack that can be enjoyed as part of a healthier lifestyle."
The candies will come in a 5-pack will retail at $5.99. They contain one gram of net carbs as well as no added sugars or preservatives.
Atkins Nutritionals was established by Atkins diet founder Robert Atkins, who died in 2003. The company is currently owned by Roark Capital Group.
