Chocolate and cookie producers are increasingly looking towards modified-atmosphere packaging to extend shelf life of products for export markets, according to supplier Sealpac.

In this video from Interpack 2014 in Dusseldorf, Germany, Marcel Veenstra, marketing and communication manager for Sealpac says that confectioners are turning to MAP packaging to prolong shelf life by weeks to a few months thus retaining freshness for export markets.

MAP packaging removes air from the pack and replaces it with a gas mixture to extend shelf-life.

Polish firm Wedel, a subsidiary of Lotte is already using  the pack format as well as Dutch cookie brand Bolletje.
