Nestlé Rowntree Black Magic chocolates
Nestlé believes its relics of Halloween themed sweet packaging could be the oldest examples from a British firm. The Rowntree's Black Magic chocolate boxes appear to date from before WWII. A witch on a broomstick is incorporated into the regular Black Magic design, along with a full-moon and owl. A village sky-line by night is featured along the box edge.
The item came from Brian Sollitt’s packaging collection. Sollitt was a former Nestlé confectioner and key figure in the development of the After Eight mint.
