Supplier trade fair ProSweets, held parallel to ISM, has also named the winner of its inaugural packaging award.
Around 700 visitors to the show voted for the most innovative confectionery and snacks launch from 220 products presented at the New Product Showcase at ISM between January 29 and February 1.
The winners of the New Product Showcase were…
1. Misfortune Cookies - Pechkeks GmbH
Hamburg-based company Pechkeks took the top award for the ‘dark twin’ of the fortune cookie: ‘Misfortune Cookies’.
The company was setup in 2013 in Germany and began producing English-versions of its Gothic-themed, jet black cookies in 2015.
The company’s CEO told ConfectioneryNews that Pechkeks is targeting growth in the US market and hopes to move beyond speciality gifting stores and into premium retail in confectionery aisles.

Munich-based startup ChipsBox took second place for its ‘Organic Veggie Box’ launch, which features carrot, beetroot and paprika vegetable chips.
