Goupie has expanded its chewy chocolate flavor toffee with Salted Sticky Toffee and launched a 180 g sharing size box.

The range is designed as a twist on the classic British dessert, Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Maldon Sea Salt

Goupie paired up with Maldon Sea Salt to produce the flavor and to add to its growing list of British ingredients.

Janet Simpson, co-founder of Goupie. said Salted Sticky Toffee has been a firm favourite ever since its launch last year and it was only natural they expand the product in 180 g sharing boxes.

There are 17 flavors in the Goupie range in total. Grace Simpson, brand manager, Goupie, told ConfectioneryNews the firm is launching a newly designed website in April, with a more detailed About Us page, not just about its environmental and sustainability projects but looking at its whole supply chain, how it transports its products and where its suppliers come from.

All our products are hand made in Kent and the packaging is 100% recyclable,” said Simpson.

Now we are looking to do even more in terms of recycling this year. Currently our product packaging components consist of an outer card sleeve and polypropylene (PP) plastic  bag.

Shelf life

We get a lot of comments on the bag and its visual ‘dis-appeal’ because people expect the chocolates to be individually wrapped pieces, ie in flow wrappers. But, most of those materials are not recyclable because they are multi layered materials with different components.

We are now looking at whether we can find a biodegradeable flow wrapping option to singularly wrap each item but it’s hard to find a manufacturer you can afford and it doesn’t have the same shelf life, it would be reduced from 12 to six months shelf life and the consumer isn’t necessarily aware of this.”
