The chocolate industry’s biggest players will discuss how to move forward on cocoa sustainability at the World Cocoa Foundation’s meeting in Copenhagen next week. ConfectioneryNews will be there to bring you the latest.

WCF’s 26th​ Partnership Meeting & Cocoa Sustainability Trade Fair takes place between October 15-16 at the Confederation of Danish Industry in Copenhagen.

Representatives from Mars, Barry Callebaut and Mondelez will be among the 300 attendees at the 2-day event.

Partnership meeting

Day one of the Partnership Meeting includes discussions on defining sustainability, harmonizing standards and the future of certification. Speakers include Howard-Yana Shapiro, chief agricultural officer at Mars and Barry Callebaut’s vice president of cocoa sustainability Nicko Debenham.

The second day explores collective industry action through the WCF’s CocoaAction​ program and how progress can be measured. There will also be perspectives from others in cocoa value chain such as farmers, NGOs and retailers.

The event also features a cocoa sustainability trade fair with exhibitors such as Cargill, Toms and the International Cocoa Initiative.
