The World Cocoa Foundation’s (WCF) 2020 Partnership Meeting, set to be held in Bogotá, Colombia, on November 18 and 19, has been switched to an online-only event due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organization has announced.

In a short statement the WCF said: “After careful consideration of the international travel situation, WCF has decided to cancel the in-person Partnership Meeting scheduled on November 18-19 in Bogotá, Colombia. We are thrilled to share that we will instead be holding our first ever online Partnership Week, starting on November 16.”

The WCF’s Partnership Meeting is the only annual global industry event dedicated to cocoa sustainability and each year it is attended by several hundred global leaders, sustainability experts and practitioners, retailers, government officials, non-profit organizations, research institutes and other industry stakeholders.

Its announcement comes after other high-profile conferences and events in the cocoa sector have been cancelled this year including Chocovision, the CAA Conference and the NCA’s Sweets & Snacks Expo.

The WCF gathering was to be the last significant meeting for the cocoa sector in 2020. Last year the conference was held in Berlin under the theme ‘Drivers of Change’ and attracted more than 300 attendees and 85 speakers from around the globe.
