Faced with growing consumer health concerns, a US candy maker is introducing a sugar-free, fat-free product to the diabetic market.

Sinfully Delicious dessert bites, said to have only 2 calories, are being rolled out at more than 50 national retailers this month and are already available in Wal- Mart, Eckerd drug stores, Winn-Dixie grocery stores and Phillips 66 convenience stores.

Armand Hammer, president and CEO of Innovative Candy Concepts, said: "It caters to anyone who loves the taste of dessert or candy. Additionally, it caters to anyone concerned about weight loss or good health in general."

The Sinfully Delicious line includes two separate collections - chocolates and fruit cremes - and 12 different flavours, including Key Lime Pie, Mocha Cappuccino Cake or Strawberry Cheesecake.

The 'desserts' are packaged in individual boxes of 24, 36-piece pocket samplers with all 12 desserts, and gift boxes with a 96-candy assortment. Special edition seasonal packaging such as Christmas and Valentine's Day gift boxes will also be available.

A division of Atlanta-based Hammer Corp, Innovative Candy Concepts also makes the childrens' Too Tarts.
