Cappuccino Sauce manufactured by Scottish confectionery firm Macphie​ won the foodservice dessert category at this year's Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards. The sauce was highly recommended by a judging panel of industry figures for "its smooth and indulgent taste"​ and "its simple, versatile and ready to use format".

"It is fantastic to get a second award for this great tasting quality product that offers caterers and manufacturers a real opportunity to take advantage of the demand for coffee flavoured products,"​ said company chief executive Alastair Macphie.

All products were assessed on taste, quality, innovation and business potential. Macphie Cappuccino Sauce, which comes in a ready to use format that means it can be poured straight from the pack over desserts and ice cream, was judged to be especially versatile. The product can be used as an ingredient to flavour gateaux, mousses and sweet pastry tarts.

The company claims that the sauce has an ambient shelf life of six months, and, after opening, can be stored in a refrigerator for up to seven days. It is available to manufacturers and caterers in 1-litre tetrapaks or 10-litre bag-in-box formats for manufacturers to minimise handling and wastage.

Macphie Cappuccino Sauce is part of an extensive range of ambient sweet and savoury UHT sauces, dessert sauces and fruit coulis which are tailored to all types of foodservice operations, including hotels, pubs, leisure facilities, airline and event catering.
