A new gelatine replacer from Dutch company DMV International

Billed as the next generation gelatine replacer, according to the company the Textrion Gel 01 product meets two essential criteria - mouthfeel and easy processing properties.

"This is an innovative, fitting alernative to gelatine,"​ Mirjam van der Molen, project leader at DMV International told FoodNavigator.com.

"Consumer-driven it has all the benefits of gelatine,"​ she added.

" We're delighted with the award, it's fantastic,"​ said Patrick Cobussen, market development manager food at the Dutch company,

Rolled out onto the dairy industry in Europe in September 2003 after two years in development, the product is cold dispersible, thermo-reversible and shear-reversible.

Trials are currently underway into the use of Textrion Gel 01 in bakery filling applications.

Textrion is the brand name for DMV's range of ingredients that provide textures in food applications.

Leading Danish ingredients company Danisco harnassed the Bronze award for its edible moisture barrier product, Grindsted Barrier System. Constantly on the innovation road, Danisco's new ingredient is an edible moisture barrier with low water permeability, high physical stability, and good mouthfeel.
