Sticky foods get moving on modular belt

A modular belt is designed to move sticky foods such as pastries, candies, fruits, vegetables and frozen seafood.

Switzerland-based Habasit, said its new conveyer belt design helps improve cleaning and increases food safety in the plant. The company's M1234 Nub Top Flush Grid 0.5 is a non-stick plastic modular belt with an open hinge design.

"The food does not stick on the belt and can easily be transferred from one belt to another," Habasit stated in a press release yesterday. "Small nubs minimize the contact between the belt and products."

The belt is suited for small transfer rollers up to 16 mm diameter. The nub top surface provides easier product release, the company stated.

It is available in polyethylene, polypropylene and polyoxymethylene. Side guards 50 mm height with maximum edge distance of 16 mm (0.63") with flights are available as accessories.
