Breakfast cereal manufacturer Quaker Foods has become the latest
cereal maker to incorporate chocolate into its range of healthy
products.

Life Chocolate Oat Crunch consists of chocolate and oat pieces and, according to the company is a low-fat, high-fibre, nutritious product with two servings of whole grain and ten essential vitamins and minerals per serving.

Thanks to greater awareness of its high antioxidant levels, cocoa continues to consolidate its position as a healthy food and many manufacturers picking up on its potential for growth in other sectors such as breakfast cereals. Earlier this month, Kelloggs introduced a chocolate version of its well-known Special K dietary brand.

Quaker intend to market its cereal product to adults wanting a healthy breakfast choice without comprising on indulgence.

Quaker Foods spokesperson Mary Clare Middleton told bakeryandsnacks.com: "We developed the cereal because our consumers told us they want a healthybreakfast option that also satisfies their taste cravings."
