A breath of fresh air for bakery employees

A new air conditioning system directs air to individual
workers, while not cooling the rest of the factory.

This cooling system could be particularly useful in bakeries, where temperatures can become especially high from the ovens, causing discomfort for workers. Aqua Products said its Hydro-Star Spot Cooling system uses special fittings so that factory workers can personally adjust them in order to meet their own cooling requirements. The company claims that in the industries where a spot cooling system is in use, there has been a boost in employee moral, reduced sick days and better job performance. John Seppamaki, Aqua Products' president, claims the system is economical, costing factories less per hour of cooling than traditional air-conditioning systems. "We have solved the problem of cooling employee work areas that were once thought to be impossible and too expensive to cool," he said. The company claims the money savings arise because the air flows directly to where needed, rather than unnecessarily cooling the entire factory. It also claims the insulated ducts will keep the air cool and dry, unlike traditional thin plastic ducts, also making it more economical. The Hydro-Star is designed so it can take outside air, cool it by about 15 to 25 degrees Fahrenheit, plus dehumidify it in just a single pass, the company claimed. The cool dry air is then forced out of a high pressure blower and down an insulated round duct to each employee workstation.
