The UK company further claims their S4BX225FF overwrapping machine can also tackle the rapid changeovers required when a confectionery maker produces a range of selections in differing box sizes.
"The near hermetic seal gives the appearance of a gift wrap and has the additional advantage that it can extend shelf life of the product and enhance its freshness," added Jeremy Marden, marketing director at Wimborne-based Marden Edwards.
Overwrapping machines, also known as cellophane wrapping machines, are used extensively by the confectionery industry to meet a range of different needs that span from providing tamper evidence to prolonging shelf life, and from improving the point of sale impact, to eliminating the possibility of odour contamination.
According to the UK firm, that claims to offer over 8500 overwrapping systems to a range of industries, their S4BX225FF machine can wrap pack sizes between 75 x 55 x 17mm and 450 x 300 x 125mm at speeds up to 40 packs/minute, depending on carton size, "without affecting the high quality look of the over-wrap, which is particularly important for luxury chocolates".
The wrapper also incorporates a tear tape applicator to help the consumer to remove the wrap easily.
“The machine is our standard design without any special modifications. Yet it slotted into Mieszko’s production line without any problems,” added Marden's marketing director.
"It was easy to install and runs at full production capacity for long periods,” commented Thomasz Stiebler of Mieszko.
This recent overwrapper from Marden Edwards joins three other overwrappers in the UK firm's portfolio "which includes a high speed WR500 machine with a production rate of 75 packs per minute on a presentation box 450mm wide".
