Hermetic double twist wraps can enhance lollipop shelf life up to a year, claims GEA

Food tech firm GEA claims hermetically sealing lollipops can increase shelf life up to a year compared to standard double twist wrapping.

ConfectioneryNews.com​ spoke to GEA sales manager Mark van Harwegen on the show floor at ProSweets 2012 in Cologne, Germany.

In this podcast, he says that his company’s patented technology for hermetically sealed double twist wraps for lollipops uses 30% less packaging the industry standard single twist wraps and helps protect the product from contamination.

He says demand for the packaging style could be high in countries with hot climates.
