The company said the center, which opened yesterday, would develop new products using sensory science and packaging with improved design. It is also hoping to develop longer term science and technology platforms.
The facility features a pilot production line to test products for manufacture on a global scale as well as state-of-the-art kitchens and labs.
The center will help to introduce new products to Europe and support Mars’ global R&D activities.
It is located near Mars’ Slough factory which employs a 1,000 people and produces 2.5million Mars bars a day. The firm has invested £75m at the site over the last 5 years.
