Undeclared allergens prompt Frito-Lay cookie recall

Frito-Lay has issued a US-wide voluntary recall on two lines of its Grandma’s cookie range due to undeclared milk and egg content.

The snack titan has recalled its Grandma’s Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème and Grandma’s Peanut Butter Mini Sandwich Crème lines. No other cookie products or flavors under the brand are impacted.

Milk and egg content contained in the artificial butter flavor ingredient in the products was not listed.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or egg run the risk of a serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consumer the Grandma’s Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème and Grandma’s Peanut Butter Mini Sandwich Crème products,” Frito-Lay said.

However, the firm did note that no illnesses have been reported thus far.

Products affected are the 3.025 oz. packages of the regular-sized cookies with a sell-by date of March 12 2013 or earlier and the 1.71 oz. of the minis with a sell-by date of May 21 2013 or earlier.
