Mondelez CEO Rosenfeld bags $28.8m in 2012

Mondelez International chairman and CEO Irene Rosenfeld has been awarded a 31% rise in compensation in 2012 taking her total annual earnings to $28.8m, according to a company filing.

Although the CEO’s salary was frozen at around $1.6m a year, she was handed $15.5m in stock awards on top of $2.5m in option awards and other compensation.

Rosenfeld was voted the thirteenth most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine, but her net worth does not appear on its Rich List.

Ferrero owner Michelle Ferrero has a net worth of $20.4bn and is ranked 23rd on the Forbes Rich List.

Mars owners Forest Mars Jr, John Mars and Jacqueline Mars each have net worth of $17bn and are ranked joint 36th.

Other candy makers to make it on to the list include Perfetti Van Melle owners Augusto and Giorgio Perfetti ($5bn) and Axel Oberwelland ($3.6bn), who inherited German firm Storck, which makes Werther's Original.
