The German confectionery giant Haribo has nominated marketing director Felix Theato as CEO whilst the 90-year-old chief executive Dr Hans Riegel recovers from medical treatment.

Theato has been responsible for Haribo’s marketing since April 2012.

According to Austrian trade magazine Cash finance and controlling responsibilities will fall to Michael Phiesel, and production and technology will be managed by Arndt Rüsges.

Haribo recently expanded into Burma (Myanmar) and strengthened its presence in Singapore through a deal with expansion experts, DKSH.

Riegel's father, who had the same name, registered the company in 1920 as an abbreviation of Hans Riegel Bonn.
