A large-scale equipment auction is selling off barely used machinery from GEA, Niro, Siemens and other big names.

On September 11, food equipment auctioneer Harry Davis & Co. will entertain bids on machinery from the former BioExx Speciality Proteins facility in Saskatchewan, Canada. The catalog includes a range of late-model evaporating, drying and pasteurization gear, some of it barely or never used.

Bargain hunting

Harry Davis marketing director Peter Rosenfeld told that BioExx had invested more than $30 million USD for the new equipment in recent years. Like the auctioneer’s recent sale at a Nestle nutritional products facility in Minnesota, the company expects this auction will attract bargain-hunting processing professionals from far and wide.

Buyers will have the opportunity to realize substantial savings purchasing new and like-new equipment at the auction,” he said, adding that “prices for the equipment at auction will be determined by the bidders.”

Barely used

Among the equipment is a never-operated API skid-mounted three-effect evaporator, Niro spray dryer, GEA separators and heat exchangers, Siemens reverse-osmosis water treatment system, and McQuay chillers. General plant and maintenance gear also will be up for bidding.

Successful bidders are responsible for securing and paying for transport to the equipment’s final destination. However, Harry Davis & Co. will have resources on hand to assist buyers with the move.
