UK production line supplier Sewtec has opened an R&D facility in England to support customer projects and to develop robotic equipment for the confectionery industry.

The 5,500 sq ft center in Dewsbury, England has taken on six new staff with a further four positions available next year.

The facility includes an area for customer projects that can be developed and constructed in privacy.

Sewtec has partnered with Huddersfield University’s Engineering Department and the Keyworth Institute at Leeds University to drive development. It will also offer graduate training opportunities.

80% of Sewtec’s business comes in export markets including Russia, Brazil and Japan.
