Fini, owned by Sanchez Cano, set up subsidiary Fini Sweets UK in 2012, with offices in Luton. Products were previously distributed by the Widdowson Group in Leicester, but Staffordshire based Palletways has taken over.
Swift delivery
Paul Southam, Managing Director of Fini Sweets UK, told ConfectioneryNews: “We strive and continue to introduce new products to the UK every month and closely monitor our sales per item. Effective and swift delivery is the basis of all our efforts with logistical excellence proving essential in our goals, hence our move to Palletways.”
He added that the UK sugar confectionery market remained strong.
“We at Fini Sweets UK have seen our brands grow by over 100% 2012 versus 2013, and still we aim for considerable growth in 2014 by attacking the retail side of the trade and offering our wrapped, retail bagged products, together with seasonal.”
Sanchez Cano produces around 4,000 Fini lines, but Palletways will work with just 200 in the UK including gummies, bubblegum and licorice products.
Eyes retail chains
Fini Sweets UK holds trade accounts with wholesalers including Hancock’s, Appleton’s and the Parrett’s group. “Retail chains are part of our agenda for 2014 with talks ongoing,“ added Southam.
He said that Fini would make use of Palletways’ WEBSTOCK system, which will allow Fini to monitor and manage its stock, tracking each inbound and outbound consignment individually.
Fini Sweets also has trade branches in Spain, Portugal, France, USA, and Chile and exports to over 80 countries. Company owners Sanchez Cano posted £200m ($327m) sales in 2012.
