Jelly Belly consolidates branded manufacturing in California

Jelly Belly has announced plans to cut 66 jobs at its North Chicago plant and move branded manufacturing to its Californian headquarters.

The Chicago plant will continue to produce goods for private label and contract manufacture.

"Eliminating positions is a difficult decision to make,” said company president Bob Simpson. “This move to private label manufacturing is a forward thinking step for the best deployment of the Illinois facility and the company overall.”

The North Chicago plant was built in 1913 for the Goelitz Confectionery Company, which later became Jelly Belly.
