Private equity firm BBX Capital has chosen ex-Maxfield Candy president Rick Harris as president of its confectionery division

BBX Sweet Holdings is currently made up of six premium chocolate companies that were all acquired in the past 13 months.

Harris joins the company after five years as president of Utah-based Maxfield Candy, which was also under private equity ownership. He was previously president of fresh-cut fruit snacking business Sunkist Taylor.

Jarett Levan, president of BBX Capital and CEO of BBX Sweet Holdings, said: “Rick’s strong leadership, confections industry experience, and record of accomplishment will propel BBX Sweet Holdings forward as we continue to build a solid foundation and grow our portfolio of brands.”

BBX made its first confectionery acquisition in January 2014 with Williams & Bennett. It went on to acquire Anastasia Confections, Helen Grace Chocolates, Jer’s Chocolates, The Toffee Box and Hoffman’s Chocolates.
