Project 7 secures US-wide Walgreens listing for two gourmet gums

California-based confectionery company Project 7 has announced its sugar-free gourmet gum in birthday cake and coconut lime flavors became available in candy aisles in Walgreens across the US from April 1.

“Walgreens is a well-respected retailer and adding them to our distribution mix continues to provide our customers and the gum category with innovative choices both the customer and retailer are looking for,” Project 7’s CEO Tyler Merrick told ConfectioneryNews.

Why birthday cake and coconut lime flavored gums?

Merrick said birthday cake flavor was chosen by Walgreens as it is Project 7's all-time best-seller, while coconut lime has proved a popular flavor during spring and summer.

Project 7’s products are currently distributed in several retailers nationwide, including Target, Meijer, Fresh Market, Caribou Coffee and Loblaws in Canada.

Merrick said each retail chain is completely different from one another, and securing a new retailer is a tricky process that he had to learn through trial and error. “While you may have a great product on-hand, the specific retailer you are trying to target may not have a market or need for it.”

Project 7 will also be distributed in CVS stores across the US next month, the company said.
