A chocolate tasting club in India has launched what it claims is the country’s first artisan chocolate subscription service.

The service, named Cocoatrait, has been introduced by chocolate taster L Nitin Chordia, who has been a judge at the International Chocolate Awards.

The brand is tied to Chordia's virtual chocolate tasting club in India, also named Cocoatrait.

The organization will host an Indian edition of the International Chocolate Awards in 2017.

Its subscription box of fine chocolates will be delivered to the doorsteps of subscribers throughout India.

Each box contains three to four chocolates fitting the themes: Single-origin, artisanal, bean to bar, gluten-free, vegan, organic, natural flavor and handcrafted fine chocolate.

Monthly packages

The organization has developed an insulated pack to preserve the chocolate in India’s heat. This allows nationwide delivery with Fedex for one, three or six-month subscription options.

The box costs Rs 999 ($15) for a month trial Rs 2,649 ($40) for three months and Rs 5,159 ($78) for six months.

Cocoatrait also has a Luxury collection priced at Rs 1,999 ($30) for the one-month trial, Rs 5,499 ($83) for three months and Rs 9,999 ($150) for six months.

The Luxury collection box is made from recyclable tin and will include two to three fine chocolate bars selected by Chordia that will not be repeated month by month, as well as tasting instructions.

Last year, Chordia told this site he was working with unnamed companies to produce single-origin chocolate using cocoa from India.
