Mondelēz names next snacks MD for German business
Fridolin Frost will take charge of Mondelēz’s chocolate, biscuits and candies business in the country from January 1, 2017.
He will replace Thorsten Rodehüser, who will leave the company after a year and seven months in the role.
Frost, 45, joined Mondelēz in 2001 as assistant brand manager and has held various positions in sales & marketing for the past 15 years, including most recently as managing director for Meals in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).
Number two in German chocolate
According to Euromonitor, Mondelēz is the second largest player in Germany’s chocolate confectionery market by retail value sales on the strength of its Milka brand, behind market leader Ferrero.
The German chocolate market is expected to register a 3% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years, the research firm predicts.
Mondelēz is behind Mars Wrigley in the German gum segment and has a lower market share than Haribo in the country’s sugar confectionery market. Both of its rivals dominate their respective categories.
