The snowman design, which has been in development since the beginning of the year, has a printed outer carton sleeve that, once removed, reveals a thermoformed rigid snowman with embossed features on the lid.
Starmix jellies
The happy snowman tub contains 460g and 100g bags of Starmix jellies.
Richard Clarke, procurement manager, Haribo, told ConfectioneryNews, Kingsmoor came up with a number of options for the launch, but as a new concept, the clear favorite was the snowman.
“Once the decision was made and the design refined, they responded very quickly to produce the required stock to meet our timescales. The end result is very pleasing,” he said.
James Hill, MD, Kingsmoor Packaging, added this is the second time the firm has collaborated with Haribo on a seasonal pack, designing its Halloween-themed tub and lid earlier this year, as well as its Maoam Duo tubs and selection packs as thermoformed products.
Thermoformed packaging
The packaging is thermoformed as opposed to blow-molded and he said some of the elements were tricky to perfect.
Hill said thanks to its work with Haribo, the company is asked to develop some exciting packaging.
“Thermoforming tooling is cheaper than injection molding and we are able to realize those designs against tight lead times with greater flexibility,” he added.
Kingsmoor’s portfolio includes packaging manufactured in APET, PP, HIPS, and RPET, which contains at least 50% post-consumer recycled waste and at least 30% industry recycled waste.
