We collected responses from over 700 readers from across the globe via an online survey in October 2017.
The typical profile of a respondent was an R&D scientist working for a top five chocolate company in a major consumer market such as the US or UK.
Around 73% of respondents expect to 2018 sales to be ‘somewhat better’ or ‘much better’ than 2017 with 64% expecting their company will spend more in R&D.
Premium chocolate, seasonal items and functional confectionery are anticipated growth drivers.
