The global confectionery industry anticipates stronger sales in 2018 driven by premium dark chocolate, protein-enrichment and candy with natural colors, suggests our annual state of the industry survey.

ConfectioneryNews’ second annual industry survey was published last week and is available as a free download HERE.

We collected responses from over 700 readers from across the globe via an online survey in October 2017.

The typical profile of a respondent was an R&D scientist working for a top five chocolate company in a major consumer market such as the US or UK.

Around 73% of respondents expect to 2018 sales to be ‘somewhat better’ or ‘much better’ than 2017 with 64% expecting their company will spend more in R&D.

Premium chocolate, seasonal items and functional confectionery are anticipated growth drivers.
