US Highland (UHLN) has completed the acquisition of Supreme Sweets, a commercial bakery that designs, produces and delivers custom private-label products for restaurant chains and grocery retailers, for an undisclosed sum.

The Toronto-based bakery’s portfolio includes fresh-baked, par-baked, frozen, fried, extruded or cold-slabbed products, produced at the company’s 38,000ft² facility.

Health-focused quick service

Gluten line

Founded and managed by Mario and Barbara Parravano, Supreme Sweets will become an integral part to UHLN's long-term growth strategy catering towards the fastest growing segment in the industry - health-focused quick service restaurants (QSRs).

It will now focus on expanding its product lines, in particular gluten-free and low-calorie items.

This acquisition will allow Supreme Sweets to implement an aggressive widespread distribution of our existing and new great food products,” said Mario Parravano, president, Supreme Sweets.

"It's very satisfying to be able to put together a custom production line, sometimes with equipment that is designed from scratch or modified to give special characteristics to our food. I'm a bit of an inventor - so we have been able to create solutions for every baked food project that we have ever set our sights on."

Barbara Parravano added: “There is so much we can do, and love doing, to bring new flavors and nutritional combinations to our customers."

US Highland builds and represents franchise concepts throughout the US, and internationally.

Flatbread & sandwiches

It acquired a health-conscious restaurant concept in March this year, offering consumers foods made with fresh organic ingredients every day. The brand offers a diverse menu from flatbread sandwiches, bowls, wraps, salads and fresh proteins such as chicken, turkey, steak and falafel.  All entrees are also available in pre-packaged “meal plans” for take-out.

The brand is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and is set to expand across the Southeast.

In May, US Highland announced it will be changing its name to CRUZANI to better reflect its current operations and targeted acquisitions. In addition, the company will launch a new website and social media platform to inform the marketplace of its corporate growth.

Everett Dickson, CEO, US Highland, said the acquisition (of Supreme Sweets) adds significant strength to the balance sheet and acts as a new arena in UHLN's aggressive growth strategy.

This addition dramatically increases our footprint, brings additional management and is accretive to our bottom line as well containing a well-developed catering and wholesale supplies business,” he said.

The Supreme Sweets team and operating assets offer huge potential and we look forward to working with them in the continued growth of the company.”
