ICCO appoints Michel Arrion as executive director of organization

Belgian national moves to ICCO’s Abidjan headquarters after a career as an EU ambassador in Africa.

The International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) has announced the appointment of Michel Arrion as its new executive director.

A Belgian national, Arrion is an EU civil servant who has served as ambassador of the European Union in various African countries including Nigeria, Rwanda and Côte d'Ivoire.

Arrion, who will serve a five-year term, says he is looking forward to the opportunity to use his experience and knowledge of the cocoa sector to work with producers and consumers to “surmount the challenges facing the sector​”.

He replaces outgoing executive director, Dr Jean Marc Anga.
