tna has upgraded its on-machine seasoning system to allow more types of snacks and confections to be seasoned.

The new machinery, called intelli-flav 5.1, features a high-capacity stainless-steel drum, a heated oil circulation system and an integrated bulk powder fill technology.

Wider range of sweets and snacks

According to the group product manager at tna David Woollard, the company’s previous seasoning model, which was designed for low volume productions and high capacity operations with frequent flavor changes, was well received within the snack industry.

“[The new machine] can now be used to accurately season an even wider range of products with the same great benefits, including fried, baked and puffed snacks, such as chips, crackers and popcorn, but also confections like gummies,” he said.

Intelli-flav 5.1’s stainless-steel drum can ensure “superior reliability” when filled with high temperature products that exceed 40°C or 104°F, added Woollard. The system has also been equipped with a “strong, high density” drive to allow the instant load capacity to increase from 5kg to 8kg.

Additionally, its heated oil circulation system can keep hard fats, including butter, in liquid form as they travel through the machine, said Woollard.

Minimum waste and maintenance requirements

tna noted intelli-flav 5.1 is currently the only machine on the market that offers both wet and dry seasoning capabilities in a single drum, and it provides food manufacturers with the highest level of flexibility and minimum waste.

‘To prevent dust and water ingress, tna’s engineering team has applied bespoke methods to seal edges, limit the use of wires, enclose feeder motors and facilitate the drainage of surface water.

‘[The machine’s] new single load cell design also keeps maintenance requirements to minimum thanks to its fewer moving parts and easy-access construction,’ it said.
