LoeschPack sees demand for hermetically sealed bars of chocolate in hotter countries

Packaging machinery specialist LoeschPack has updated its RCB-HS wrapping head machine and says it has seen a rise in hermetically sealed bars of chocolate in hotter countries.

RCB-HS manufactures up to 600 packaged products per minute and produces the fold wrap in one wrapping head.

Biopolymer film


In addition to RCB-HS, LoeschPack produces a version of the R series that can create open folds, producing up to 800 packaged products per minute. 

Now the company is working to upgrade the R series to include new format ranges, folds, performance parameters, and for alternative packaging materials such as biopolymer film. 

Thomas Cord, CEO, Loesch, said the R series for small chocolate products and bars combines a premium look and product protection for end-to-end hermetically sealed packs.

The RCB-HS machine has been designed for top performance and handles the primary packaging in modern chocolate production reliably and flexibly​.”

Since its launch, the platform has established itself in the market, and the concept has met with an enthusiastic response in markets where climate conditions demand hermetically sealed packaging​.

Consumers can enjoy products with longer shelf lives and an optimized taste and texture experience​.”

Small chocolate bars

The RCB-HS circumferentially heat-seals or cold-seals the packaging material then sealing jaws seal the film against film, ensuring tight packaging and preventing thermal damage to the products.   

For a larger format range and reduced output performance, the machine can be used to pack small chocolate bars, a packaging style that is becoming increasingly popular, according to LoeschPack. 


In addition to small chocolate items, the latest version of the LTM-DUO die-fold machine also reflects the growing popularity of tightly sealed chocolate bars.

Loesch is exhibiting with its sister company Hastamat at ProSweets in Cologne, Germany, from January 27-30, 2019.
