Apple flavors are in this year, says esarom, an Austrian producer of flavors and compounds for alcoholic beverages, confectionery, pastry products, ice cream and dairy products.

The esarom apple portfolio covers a range of seasonal products starting with spring candies with apple blossom flavor; apple cookies in the summer months using flavors associated Braeburn or Fuji varieties. In autumn, the company produces cider notes from sweet to tangy in 'grown-up' fruit gums for the 'young urbans'. And in winter, everyone gets ‘Hygge’ and baked apple is the taste of the season.

It is astonishing how diverse in taste a fruit can be which has become for us an everyday product,” a spokesperson for esarom said. “The flavor profile depends on the wishes of the confectionery or fine pastries producer.”

Trend scouts at Innova highlighted the rise of the Adventurous Consumer in 2019 and the ubiquitous apple has been one of the most cosmopolitan and timeless fruit flavors. It's also among the top 10 fruity flavors (source: Mintel GNPD) in worldwide product launches in the confectionery and fine pastries' segment.
