The McVitie’s-maker is gearing up for Valentine’s Day with a new service on Uber Eats that will deliver all the necessary ingredients for a cosy night in.

The Biscuit Butler – only available in London, Birmingham and Manchester from 9-11 February – ‘will transform a crummy evening into a VIP extravaganza’ by delivering a selection of McVitie’s Blissfuls on a silver platter, paired with hot chocolate – complete with mug – and a scented candle.

According to a tongue-in-cheek promo video to announce the service, the butler’s services go a step further, toasting mini marshmallows for the hot chocolate with a blow torch, warming slippers with a hairdryer and removing crumbs with a mini dust buster.

pladis said the butler roll-out was inspired after a survey of 2,000 Brits revealed that 50% would love to get their favourite movie snacks delivered direct to their sofa, with more than half indicating that treat should be ‘something chocolatey’.

The survey also exposed the nation’s love of the silver screen – with the average Brits devouring at least five movies per week – but on the small box at home: 78% of the nation like to watch movies at home.

10 ‘most joyful’ movies

The research also divulged the UK’s top 10 ‘most joyful’ movies from the past 25 years to tuck into on Valentine’s Day:

  • Love Actually (2003) – 38%
  • The Greatest Showman (2017) – 32%
  • Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001) – 29%
  • Billy Elliot (2000) – 28%
  • Paddington 2 (2017) – 28%

“We all love a night in with a good movie or binge-worthy boxset, and our favourite treats on hand,” said David Titman, marketing director for McVitie’s at pladis UK&I, noting the brand’s new Belgium chocolate-covered biscuits are so stylish, they deserve to be served on a platter.

“McVitie’s Blissfuls were made with these moments in mind, as the perfect indulgent treat to elevate an evening in. We hope they bring a bit of bliss to all biscuit fans – we think they’re just too good not to share,”

The McVitie’s Blissfuls Biscuit Butler will be available for free exclusively on the Uber Eats app in three UK cities, on a first come, first serve basis while stocks last:
