Lindt & Sprungli has announced its new oat-based milk chocolate bars are now available in the United States.

The Swiss chocolatier is following the trend to replace dairy milk with gluten-free oat milk powder and almond paste and creating Original and Salted Caramel flavours for US consumers.

We are constantly looking for ways to create chocolate that everyone can enjoy. We are thrilled to bring this new product to US consumers,” said Lindt Master Chocolatier, Ann Czaja. “Lindt Classic Recipe OatMilk bars will deliver the same smooth, creamy experience as our Lindt Classic Recipe milk chocolate, all without the dairy.”

The US launch follows on from the release in Canada in February of Original, Hazelnut, and Salted Caramel flavours and a United Kingdom launch of Smooth and Hazelnut flavours.

VegNews said Lindt is among a growing number of major chocolate companies, including Nestlé and Cadbury in the UK, that are developing vegan milk chocolate. Though many confectionary brands have offered vegan dark chocolate bars that exclude dairy milk as an ingredient, major brands are now making use of a variety of plants such as oats, hazelnuts, and rice to create vegan milk chocolate.

Lindt’s dairy-free bars are now available online and at retailers nationwide in individually wrapped 3.5-oz. bars, with a suggested retail price of $4.49.
