- Pumpkin spice remains a powerful autumn trend across categories
Confectionery and snacking giant pladis is getting ready for autumn with its latest limited-edition launch.
The British multinational has launched Flipz pumpkin spice doughnut flavour pretzels in collaboration with iconic doughnut maker Dunkin’.
The brand says the launch furthers Flipz’ mission to “Flipz the script on everyday snacking”, turning indulgences into playful snacking experiences.
Seasonal flavours
The launch comes as seasonal and limited-edition flavours continue to play an important role in driving engagement across the snacking and confectionery sectors.
Manufacturers are increasingly using autumn-themed launches to create excitement, encourage experimentation, and generate incremental sales during key shopping periods.
Pumpkin spice, in particular, remains one of the most recognisable seasonal flavour profiles in food and beverage, returning every year across multiple categories, including confectionery, beverages and bakery. Its continued popularity has helped transform autumn product launches into an increasingly important commercial opportunity for brands seeking to stand out in a crowded market.
“Pumpkin spice has evolved from a seasonal trend to a cultural phenomenon,” says pladis marketing director Shivani Arora. “By partnering with Dunkin’, we’re bringing together two fan-favorite brands to give consumers a new way to enjoy one of fall’s most celebratory flavours.”
Brand collaborations
The collaboration also reflects the growing popularity of cross-brand partnerships in confectionery and snacking, as companies look to combine established brand equity with familiar flavours and formats.
By pairing Flipz’ chocolate-coated pretzels with Dunkin’s pumpkin doughnut flavour, pladis is tapping into consumers’ appetite for novelty while leveraging the recognition of two established brands.
It follows similar collaborations between major confectionery and snacking brands, including Reese’s recent partnership with Oreo and Aero’s Milkybar mash-up.
And, beyond encouraging trial, these limited-edition partnerships help brands generate social media buzz, attract new consumers and reinforce brand relevance through timely, trend-led innovation.
As demand for seasonal flavours and novel product experiences continues to grow, collaborations such as this are set to remain a key tool for brands looking to stand out in an increasingly crowded snacking market, and we expect to see many more in the coming months.
